Elton John thanks his fans for ’52 years of pure joy’ as he concludes his touring career.

Elton John has ended his official tour after more than 50 years of performing live.

On Saturday, the celebrated performer’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour came to an end with his final show at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena.

“I’ve had the most incredible career—indescribably incredible. As he concluded his performance with “Your Song” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” John, 76, remarked to the crowd, “How fortunate am I to be able to play music for 52 years. ”.

I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you, though, if it weren’t for you. You bought my singles, albums, CDs, and cassettes, but more importantly, you bought my concert tickets because you know how much I love performing live. ”.

The five-time Grammy winner expressed his gratitude to his supporters after the performance for their unwavering support over the past fifty years.

“My supporters have stood by me at every turn. According to Consequence, he said in a post-show statement, “They’ve stuck by me, they’ve supported me, they’ve been patient, and they’ve been coming to every single event.”.

“This evening has been lovely. It won’t be long before I’m finally done touring; I’m still processing everything, though. The fans’ support has humbled me so much, and I can’t express how much I’ll miss them or how long their love will remain in my heart. ”.

The “Tiny Dancer” singer once got a personal message from Chris Martin, who was giving a concert with Coldplay in Sweden at the same time.

“Elton, we just wanna say, from all of us here, from all the bands and artists that you’ve loved, inspired, and helped, we just love you so much,” said 46-year-old Martin in part. “You are very much loved by us. We wish you a happy retirement and will miss you terribly, dude. ”.

John, who has been on the road since 1970, posted a moving message to Instagram earlier on Saturday, in advance of the much-anticipated event.

What a journey this tour has been, and here we are at its conclusion, he wrote. The last night is tonight. ”.

John is no longer on the road, but according to a prior statement from him and his management, he will still perform in some capacity in the upcoming years.

John’s husband and manager, David Furnish, told Billboard in November of last year: “It’s important to distinguish between Elton retiring from touring and Elton not performing his very last public performance for the very last time.”.

I am aware that he will not be performing on any tours. What you’ll observe is the potential for a spectacular once-off occurrence or a brief stay in one location for a finite period of time. ”.
